According to the B.C. Premier, one 'legendary friend' provides an essential service of "rewarding good habits and healthy brushing" in the province: the Tooth Fairy.

On Friday, April 25, B.C. Preimer John Horgan tweeted about the "fairy special announcement," stating that the Tooth Fairy is hereby authorized to travel freely into and throughout British Columbia.

Horgan added that he thanks people and 'creatures' of all ages for doing their part while we are physically distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of his announcement, he playfully noted that, "This permission only applies to registered fairies - no substi-tooth-ions or fillings-in allowed."

Horgan also remarked that a number of children and parents in B.C. reached out to ask about the important line of work, and that he was pleased to authorize the essential service.

A number of people have responded to the adorable declaration, with a number of them thanking him for taking the time to think of families during this health crisis. Other people tweeted that the sentiment was 'adorable,' while some said they appreciated the playful humour.

For example, @VDV_Faclon tweeted, "It's little things like this that humanize politicians. And a huge thank you to you Mr. Horgan and your staff for keeping us all safe," while @j9Conrad replied, "Thank you for thinking of children during this time. My daughter is 15, has braces and is a tooth fairy denier, and she smiled when she read your decree :)."

With this in mind, a few commenters felt that the 'authorization' was unnecessary or that it sent out the wrong message during a serious time. For instance, @MisterHoundsome remarked, "Good work setting the example for people to take the virus seriously!" and @nightrodder604 commented, "This is how you’re spending your time?"

Vancouverties have been stepping outside each night to cheer for health care workers and first responders from their balconies, backyards, and doorsteps. Fire Chief Darrell Reid shared a video on March 29 to his Twitter account of his neighbours adding a unique twist to the 7 p.m. ritual: the Canadian national anthem

Now, a Vancouverite has created a massive chalk mural to send gratitude to essential workers. Included in the colourful roundup is a doctor, a grocery store clerk, a police officer, a post officer, and a nurse.

Posted on Reddit by yu/allimum on April, the cheerful image has been upvoted 239 times. A few comments note that the offering is 'cute' and made them 'smile,' while others mention that the artist is rather talented.

While TransLink has implemented a number of changes to protect its employees as well as the public at large, transit operators and attendants put themselves at risk to provide vital transportation to people across the Lower Mainland. Have a look at the experiences of three front line transit workers HERE.

In order to celebrate everyone on the front lines, TransLink has played an announcement on its Expo, Millennium and Canada Line trains at 7 p.m. sharp. The announcement played for the first time on March 27.
