A keynote speaker at an anti-mask protest scheduled for this weekend in Vancouver has been arrested and is facing charges in Toronto.
Chris Saccoccia, otherwise known as Chris Sky was arrested by the Toronto Police Service on May 20. It is alleged that Saccoccia threatened to shoot a member of the public and elected officials a week before. In a release from Toronto police, the threats were reported to police the morning of May 19 and an investigation was started.
That same afternoon, officers attended an address in York Region to arrest Saccoccia. While officers were there, he got into his vehicle to drive away but police attempted to block the vehicle and an officer got out of the car to approach Saccoccia. He then reversed and drove directly at the officer, causing the officer to jump out of the way to avoid being hit as Saccoccia drove off.
On Thursday, May 20 Saccoccia turned himself in. He has been criminally charged with:
- Three counts of Utter Death Threat
- Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
What are the odds that @vancouverpd (working with @deltapolice) @dlr9 + @ParkBoard can *prevent* bussing of people from Ladner to Vancouver's Sunset Beach, the building of a (another) stage and other violations of bylaws and PHO orders? @rebeccaleebligh @ptfry Notice a-plenty: https://t.co/tJHPw9Wq1n pic.twitter.com/ajFOHrci2K

In a video posted to Saccoccia’s Twitter account two days before his attempted arrest he spoke of plans to arrive in Vancouver on May 22 to speak at a rally planned for May 23.
It is unclear at this point as to whether Saccoccia will be able to attend.
