After months of repairs, residents will get to make a splash in Kitsilano Pool starting July 30.
The ocean-side saltwater pool had to undergo construction after a massive storm wrecked the pool bottom.
The opening weekend, which also falls on the August long weekend from July 30 to August 1, will only allow in a limited number of swimmers due to lifeguard shortages in pools across Metro Vancouver and the rest of Canada.
Starting August 2, the number of spots for swimmers will depend on available staff each day. Though there will be space for drop-ins, the spots aren't guaranteed.
During the long weekend, Kits Pool is only open for public swims; length swimmers are asked to book at Second Beach Pool.
There will also be two entrances to the pool.
The front entrance will be for online reservations made with Flexipass, 10-visit passes as well as Leisure Access Pass holders and drop-ins who still need to purchase their entry pass.
The east end of the fenced area will serve as an entrance for paid, single-visit online reservations.
