Someone jumped up onto a Vancouver police vehicle and smashed the windshield while the car was parked for a traffic stop.

Vancouver police were conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of Smith and Granville early Sunday morning when a man in his 20s allegedly jumped onto the hood of the police vehicle and smashed the windshield with his foot.

According to the VPD, the man was not involved in the traffic stop -- the incident was completely unrelated -- and there were officers in the car at the time.

After allegedly smashing the windshield, the suspect reportedly fled on foot pursued by officers.

VPD caught up to the man who was arrested and charges are pending.
