The Vancouver Police Department says charges have been laid against a man in the 2022 death of a Vancouver taxi driver.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has announced charges in a two-year-old homicide case.

On Aug. 14, 2022, Aden Hersi, a 69-year-old taxi driver, was assaulted by a passenger, according to the VPD.

"(He) was assaulted by a passenger he had driven to the area of Nanaimo Street and East 2nd Avenue. Hersi was taken to hospital with serious injuries," reads a press release issued by the VPD on Sept. 9, 2024.

Hersi spent the next few months in hospital before he died on Nov. 22, 2022.

The BC Prosecution Service recently approved one count of manslaughter against a man named Jordan Conway, according to the VPD. Court records show he's 24 or 25. He was arrested Sept. 6 and has been released pending a Sept. 24 court date.

According to court records, he also faces one assault charge in relation to the Aug. 14 incident.
