Vancouver Police say an officer and an elderly woman are recovering after both being assaulted by the same man.
On the morning of May 28, a man got into an argument with an elderly woman in their East Vancouver apartment complex, explains a news release. The argument escalated and the woman was assaulted, receiving injuries to her face and head.
A police officer was in the building for a different reason when the incident took place. After the building staff told him about the assault, the officer tried to arrest the suspect. The suspect then bit the officer’s arm and tried to wrestle him to the ground.
Once additional officers arrived, the man was arrested for assault causing bodily harm and assaulting a peace officer.
The elderly victim suffered a broken nose, cuts, a swollen eye, and a non-life-threatening brain bleed. The officer sustained injuries to his arm.
