A 49-year-old Vancouver man is facing one count of sexual assault as police continue to investigate the incident.
Victor Austin was charged on Jan. 19 for allegedly assaulting a woman he knew, according to a press release from the Vancouver Police Department.
“This alleged crime was committed against a vulnerable woman living on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside,” says Cst. Tania Visintin in the release. “Investigators believe there may be other people who know the suspect and may have information that could be useful to the investigation.”
Anyone who saw the incident can call police at 604-717-0601. Police know it happened in early January, but don't have any more specific information about the alleged assault available at this point.
Austin has been released with some court-ordered conditions, including not to be alone in a residence with any woman who isn't an immediate member of his family and not to give any intoxicating substance to any woman.
