A 40-year-old man is dead after a stabbing outside a shelter in Vancouver.
The man, who has been identified as Jason Robert St. Anne, was stabbed Sunday night, Jan. 8, in an altercation near the intersection of Yukon Street and West 5th Avenue, according to the Vancouver Police Department. They add the victim was a resident at the Yukon Shelter and Housing Centre, outside of which the stabbing happened.
The alley running parallel to West 5th Avenue has been cordoned off by police, and investigators have searched the area, including an area where rubbish and drug paraphernalia has been left. Security footage shows investigators found a bladed weapon during one search of the area, as well as bagged clothing.
He died later that night in hospital around 10:30 p.m.
