A 31-year-old man is in the hospital after he was repeatedly shot.
In a press release, the VPD states officers were on East Hastings Street around 2:30 p.m. when the man, who was known to police, was shot near the intersection with Columbia Street. Some officers stayed with the injured man while others tracked down a suspect after he fled the area.
Police found the suspect in Chinatown shortly after the shooting and he was arrested.
The victim, who's not from the Downtown Eastside, is expected to survive the shooting.
The suspect, a man in his 30s from Alberta, is in police custody.
