The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is looking to the public for help finding an 81-year-old man with dementia.

Meir Steiner was last seen by his family at their home yesterday afternoon (Saturday, March 20), according to a police press release.

That was in the East 13th Avenue and Fraser Street area.

He's known to like long walks, understands the city's transit system, and likes to go to Kingsgate Mall, Gastown, and the Main Street area.

Steiner is described as Caucasian, 5'7" and 200 lbs with a large belly according to the VPD. He has brown eyes, shaggy grey hair, and a white goatee. Also, he has Bell's palsy which means the right side of his face droops.

He may be wearing a red Canada baseball cap, a dark blue puffy jacket with a hood, a beige long sleeve t-shirt, dark flannel pajama-type pants and black hiking boots.

Anyone who sees Steiner is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately and stay with him until first responders get to the scene.
