More than five months after the draw happened, BC Lottery is revealing who won $1 million on a Lotto Max Draw last summer
Maple Ridge residents Christine and Robert Loewen matched all seven numbers in one of the 33 Maxmillions prizes drawn on Aug. 6, 2024, according to a BC Lottery Corporation Press Release.
They found out they won while shopping for groceries.
“I was in Fifth Avenue Grocery,” recalls Robert in the press release. “I said ‘No!’ and scanned again. I was excited and called Christine over to look.”
The win was "unreal" Christine says, and they're still in disbelief.
"We haven't slept!" she adds.
While they're excited for the win, they hadn't told anyone else about it at the time of the press release, and their only plan was to speak to a financial advisor.
