The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) were deployed to Surrey late last week after reports of a man sleeping in an alleyway turned into a criminal investigation.
On Friday, March 25, first responders were called after witnesses reported a person sleeping in an alleyway in a suburban part of the Newton neighbourhood. When first responders arrived at the scene they found a dead man, according to a press release.
Surrey RCMP and the BC Coroners Service arrived on the scene and determined the man's death was suspicious. Mounties secured the scene and the investigation was transferred to IHIT.
