Abbotsford police responded to an attempted marijuana grow operation raid that left two innocent people with minor injuries.

Two innocent people were targeted in a Metro Vancouver "grow-rip" last week.

Abbotsford police received a report of a home invasion at around 12:57 a.m. on April 10 in the 1500 block of Bowman Road involving a group of male suspects wearing dark clothing that entered an occupied residence on the property, displayed a firearm, and assaulted two residents.

Police officers found that the property is home to an active marijuana grow operation, yet the two victims assaulted during the "grow-rip"– a raid on an illegal marijuana grown operation, were not associated with the grow operation but rather with the farm that operates on the same property.

The victims suffered minor injuries and were incredibly shaken.

"This incident is incredibly concerning," says the Abbotsford Police Department. "Innocent people were targeted in this act of violence."

Investigators are asking witnesses, anyone with information, or and anyone with dashcam footage travelling int the Sumas Prairie area before and after this incident to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
