A man who was filmed climbing onto the roof of an ambulance in a Metro Vancouver intersection had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
On Aug. 23 around 3:30 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a report of an unwanted person at a store in the 13400-block of 104 Avenue, Surrey RCMP Cpl. Vanessa Munn told Vancouver Is Awesome.
While the officers were en route, they were informed that the individual had climbed onto the roof of an ambulance near the store. After they arrived at the scene, they were able to talk him down off the roof, adds Munn.
Police checks revealed that the man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody.
After he was transported to hospital for a medical assessment, he was then transported to cells.
The BC Emergency Health Services told V.I.A. that its paramedics were delayed by 20 minutes responding to a non-urgent (yellow-coded) medical call at a residence near 110 and 126A streets in Surrey.
"Paramedics later cared for and transported the patient to hospital," explains an emailed statement.
A video of the man climbing onto the emergency vehicle was shared on Facebook by Surrey resident Rick Baker. It has now been shared on the social media platform over 1,200 times.
In the video, the shirtless individual wanders to the emergency vehicle and climbs up over the front of it and onto the roof. Once he reaches the top, he appears to move around and observe his surroundings.
