Experience Mexican culture through food, drinks, music, arts, crafts and shopping at a one-day pop-up event in September.
Market Mexico will be held in the lower level of Robson Square on Mexican Independence Day -- Saturday, September 15.
Markets or mercados are a tradition in the country that dates back to pre-Hispanic times and Mexico City boasts over 300 different markets.
Experience market staples including tacos, tortas and elotes (Mexican corn). Try horchata, pastries, and churros; and sip on aguas frescas, agave spirits, and micheladas.
The event will feature shopping, music, a licensed cantina and a Grito de Independencia—a ceremony to mark Mexican Independence Day.
“We were overwhelmed by the positive response to last year’s event, and look forward to seeing even more people this year experiencing Mexico and everything it has to offer,” says Rodrigo Díaz de Rivera Vargas of the Mexico Tourism Board.
Market Mexico is presented by The Mexico Tourism Board and Arrival Agency.
“At last year’s event it was inspiring to see Vancouver’s vibrant Mexican community, people who have never been to Mexico, and everyone in between all come together for a daylong celebration of the food, ambiance, and sounds of Mexico. We can’t wait to offer Vancouverites another taste of Mexico through the mercado experience.” says Arrival Agency’s Ernesto Gomez.
