A new grocery store is opening in Vancouver.
Loblaws CityMarket, which also has locations in Arbutus (Vancouver), Lonsdale (North Vancouver), and Park Royal (West Vancouver) is set to be the anchor tenant of a new building going in at Broadway and Granville along the new Broadway Subway line.
The CityMarket location in Richmond's Ironwood area, at the former Fantasy Garden mixed-used redevelopment, closed in 2018 after just a couple of years in business.
CityMarket is the slightly upscale and urban brand of Loblaw Companies Ltd, which also operates several No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, and T&T Supermarket stores in Metro Vancouver.
The 22,000 sq ft grocery store will be situated on the first and second levels at 1477 W Broadway, above the planned Millennium Line extension's South Granville Station.
Another CityMarket is set to open inside the former central post office, now called The Post, in Downtown Vancouver on West Georgia Street. The Post is a huge redevelopment of Vancouver's central Canada Post building which will also include a food hall, gym, pharmacy, and dining.
An opening date for Loblaws CityMarket on West Broadway has not been announced.
