Vancouver will be getting a new City Market, and it's not too far away.
Previously, parent company Loblaws confirmed it will occupy 22,000 square feet of the new tower being built at 1477 W Broadway at the intersection with Granville Street in Fairview.
The new store will be an anchor tenant in the tower, filling most of the first and second levels of the new building, which is expected to be completed before the end of 2025.
In an email to V.I.A., Loblaws states the new store is "slated to open in early 2026."
Additionally, Loblaws provided some details regarding what customers can expect to find in the new store.
"It will feature hot meal programs, Natural Value products, and a diverse selection of international items tailored to the Vancouver community," reads the email.
The new grocery store will be located between offices and 223 new rental units in the tower above, and the new South Granville Station once the subway tunnel is completed. Currently, the Broadway SkyTrain is projected to start running in 2027; originally, it was planned to start in 2025.
Last year, Loblaws opened a huge franchised City Market in downtown Vancouver at the redeveloped Post site.
The 40,000-square-foot store occupies one floor below the Amazon and Sony Pictures offices that were built on top of the historic building.
