One man has been arrested and police are investigating after busting a suspected drug lab in the Indian River area.
Around noon on Thursday, someone called 911 in distress, requesting medical assistance. North Vancouver RCMP members arrived at the home on the 4000 block of Brockton Crescent before paramedics.
They quickly confirmed someone was in the midst of a medical emergency, but they also saw the telltale signs of a drug lab, said Sgt. Peter DeVries, North Vancouver RCMP spokesman.
Police got search warrants and called in RCMP’s clandestine laboratory enforcement and response team.
“They determined that there were no toxic chemicals on site but that there was evidence of illegal drug production happening,” DeVries said. “We secured the residence. We ended up arresting one male who was in the residence, a 36-year-old North Van resident.”
Over the course of Thursday and Friday, police seized a “large number of exhibits,” DeVries said, although he could not specify what they were.
The man they arrested has since been released.
The investigation is continuing, but DeVries said it could take several months for charges to be sworn because all of the materials seized will have to go to Health Canada labs for analysis before police know exactly what they are dealing with.
