Update May 19, 2023:

Ikbal's remains were discovered in the water near the Plaza of Nations in False Creek on Thursday (May 18).

The BC Coroners Service is currently investigating and the cause of Ikbal's death has not been determined.

The Vancouver Police Department is also continuing its investigation into Ikbal's disappearance.

Update May 4, 2023:

VPD has released an additional photo of a man that went missing on April 29 and expressed renewed concern for his safety.

“Each day that passes without finding Irshaad increases our concern for his well-being,” says Constable Tania Visintin in a recent press release. “It is extremely troubling and is out of character for Irshaad to have gone so long without speaking to his family, friends and co-workers.”

An "extensive investigation" into the mans's disappearance is underway which police say includes a video review of the area Irshaad was last seen, a review of his bank records and his social media accounts, and several interviews with those that were with him, as well as a search of false creek waters.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Vancouver Police Missing Person Unit at 604-717-2530 or email [email protected]. If an individual wishes to remain anonymous they can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.

Original story May 1, 2023:

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is seeking a man who went missing early Saturday morning after hanging out with friends.

Irshaad Ikbal, 36, was last seen on Saturday, April 29, near the Plaza of Nations in the city's core around 2 a.m., according to the VPD.

"He became separated from friends and hasn't been seen or heard from since," say police.

His disappearance is out of character, and his family and friends are concerned for his safety, say police.

Police describe Ikbal as a South Asian man standing 5'8" and weighing around 155 lbs. He has short black hair, a black beard and hazel eyes. When he disappeared, he was wearing a white button-down shirt with a pink and blue design, light blue ripped jeans, and white Converse shoes.

The VPD has released two photos of him as part of the search; one is from the night he disappeared and shows what Ikbal was wearing.

"Anyone who was with Mr. Ikbal early Saturday morning, or anyone who knows his whereabouts, is asked to call police immediately," state the VPD.
