A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Chinatown.
The collision happened around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, near the intersection of East Georgia and Main streets. The woman was crossing the road.
The pedestrian "was struck by a vehicle just before 12:30 p.m. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene," states the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) in a press release.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation, according to the VPD. The collision investigation unit is on the scene collecting evidence; as of 2:40 p.m. East Georgia was still closed between Main and Gore.
"Witnesses, or anyone with dash-cam video, is asked to contact VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012," states the VPD.
