Police are turning to the public for more information about what they believe was a targeted shooting in Marpole in early April.
Around 8:30 p.m. on April 8 a 54-year-old man was sitting in the driver's seat of a parked car at South West Marine Drive and Yew Street when he was shot, according to a police press release.
Despite his wound, he was able to drive to 70th Avenue and Marine Drive where he was able to get a stranger to call 9-1-1. Emergency crews arrived and he was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Vancouver police are hoping cars located at or near the site of the shooting will have dash cam footage from the night in question, or that people have information they haven't shared with police yet. They're also asking anyone who was driving on Marine Drive between McDonald Street and Arbutus Street between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and have dash cam footage to share it.
"We believe there were multiple cars in the area the time the shooting occurred,” says Cst.Tania Visintin.. “Even though you may have not witnessed the incident, if your vehicle was parked in the area and is equipped with dash cam video, please reach out to our investigators as that could be crucial evidence to assist with solving this case.”
There's no risk to the public at this time related to the shooting, she adds.
