The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is looking for a specific woman after a "frightening" crash last week.
On Wednesday, Sept. 8, a vehicle "careened through the streets of Yaletown," according to the VPD. At one point the vehicle nearly hit a woman pushing a baby stroller, but luckily she was able to get of the way.
Now, police want to speak with that woman.
“A number of people saw a woman pushing a baby stroller on Richards Street when this terrifying incident occurred the morning of September 8,” says Sgt. Steve Addison in a press release. “We believe this person had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, and we’d like to speak with her to find out more.”
Eventually, the driver, a 27-year-old man from Richmond, crashed after driving the wrong way down Richards Street. He hit a tree and crashed through a construction fence near Richards and Pacific.
He was arrested at the scene. Police describe him as having been "impaired."
Police are still collecting evidence in their case and want to speak to the woman about what happened.
"This was a very chaotic situation, and we think this person likely walked away before speaking with police,” adds Sergeant Addison. “We’d like this witness, or anyone else we haven’t yet spoken with, to get in touch with our investigators."
