With the amount of rain Vancouver experiences, most residents have a favourite way to stay dry.
Common approaches are staying in as much as possible, embracing the rain, a selection of rain jackets and, of course the umbrella.
Umbrellas around Vancouver are sometimes a sticking point. Between crowded streets and the wind, some find them annoying and useless.
At the same time, they're easy to have on hand and (when it's not windy) are the simplest way to keep most things dry (in case you're carrying groceries or a back pack).
So Vancouver Is Awesome polled 800 readers and asked the question: Do you use an umbrella when it's raining?
The simple yes-no question shows a significant divide in the city, with just over half saying they do. And while some like to say Vancouver isn't an umbrella-friendly city, it appears that a greater majority of locals use umbrellas when compared to non-locals, as there's a five percent gap between the two.
That's greater than the margin of error.
