Poll: President Trump's second term affecting Canadians' travel plans

A majority of Vancouverites said they will now make fewer trips across the U.S. border

Fewer Vancouverites are planning to travel thanks to President Donald Trump's second term.

It seems President Donald Trump's attitude toward Canada may be affecting the travel plans of Canadians.

In a recent poll, which ran from the day before his inauguration until this weekend, as the U.S. and Canada grappled with the fallout of potential tariffs on Canadian products.

With those issues, among others, in mind, Canadian travellers are looking at destinations south of the border a lot less than in the past.

More than 69 per cent of respondents, both Vancouverites and others, said they will likely make fewer trips to the United States. Only a handful, fewer than six per cent, are making more plans to go to the U.S. than before. About a quarter said Trump's second term will not affect their travel plans.
