Poll: This is when summer actually ends according to Vancouverites

The shift between seasons is quite the blurred line.
vancouver fall
Vancouverites polled when they feel summer ends and most voters said that they feel summer ends a few weeks into September.

When does summer actually end?

Does summer officially end at the end of the month when the clock strikes midnight? Does it end after Labour Day weekend, the official indicator for some? Or is it when the weather literally feels like fall and we start to slightly shiver? (Or when pumpkin spice drinks make their annual return?)

The shift between seasons is quite the blurred line, so we polled fellow Vancouverites on when they feel summer officially ends.

Just over half of those who voted, which was nearly 53 per cent, felt that summer ends a few weeks into September. That means they're in for an extra long summer this year, as the fall forecast says that summer is two weeks behind.

Meanwhile, 30 per cent of voters said that once Labour Day is over, so is summer. For 10 per cent of voters, summer ends at the end of August and the rest of voters don't pay attention to the changing seasons.

The poll ran from 8/23/2022 to 9/10/2022. Of the 736 votes, we can determine that 415 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

End of August 10.36 % local, 10.05 % total
After Labour Day 30.12 % local, 30.71 % total
A few weeks into September 52.77 % local, 52.17 % total
I don't pay attention to it 6.75 % local, 7.07 % total
