With temperatures well above normal so far this May, it seems like a good time to ask Vancouverites what the ideal temperature is for the city.
Vancouver has a moderate oceanic climate, which means few extreme highs and lows, and judging by the poll V.I.A. ran, locals like it that way.
First place went to the 21 C to 25 C range, and it won by a long shot. With nearly 60 per cent of the vote, it more than doubled second place, which was slightly cooler temperatures from 16 C and 20 C. That range scored around 26 per cent of the vote.
And really, those are the only two people really went for. Those who like a bit more heat, between 26 C and 30 C, took third spot with less than 10 per cent of the vote, and other temperatures (even ones with bigger ranges) we negligible. The 11 to 15 C crowd finished fourth, with around 3 per cent of the vote, as did the 31+.
The good news is that temperatures look like they'll be in or near that sweet spot for a bit this week, with temperatures in or just below the low-20s.
V.I.A. polled 727 readers and asked the question: What is the ideal temperature in Vancouver?
The poll ran from 5/14/2023 to 5/20/2023. Of the 727 votes, we can determine that 435 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:
