Crews at BC Hydro were on site in several locations throughout the Lower Mainland today due to numerous power outages in Burnaby and Vancouver.
The outages, which affected thousands of customers, started around 11:30. Most areas had their power restored by around 1:30 pm, but there are still a few places without power.
BC Hydro stated that the outages were due to a "Substation fault."

BCIT cancelled daytime classes at both the Burnaby and CARI Campuses due to the ongoing power outages. They tweeted their notice at 12:31 pm, asking that all students, faculty and staff make their way off the campuses.

BCIT also stated that evening classes were not cancelled. However, they noted that they would, "provide an update at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon on the status of evening classes."
