A private country club in West Vancouver has been ordered to close after the possibility of novel coronavirus exposure to members and staff early this month.
Members of the Hollyburn Country Club were informed of the closure in a letter Friday, as ordered by the medical health officer for Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) authority.
The VCH letter states “you may have been exposed to COVID-19 on Oct. 1 to Oct. 6,” and advises those who attended the club between those times to self isolate until Oct. 20.
By Saturday night at 6 p.m. the club was closed – with no reopening date in sight.
Hollyburn CEO Ed McLaughlin wrote members in a letter, addressing the forced closure.
“VCH has continued to do contact tracing based on cases they have confirmed being related back to exposure at Hollyburn,” McLaughlin assured.
“As a result of the contact tracing, we just received word from the medical health officer that Hollyburn is required to close, effectively immediately.”
Additionally, Hollyburn president Carol Fraser encouraged club members to be more vigilant in following COVID-19 protocols in another letter.
The exposures have yet to be listed by VCH on their public notification list.
