Vancouver knows and loves 'the guy in the pink hat.'
Recognized by his bright pink fedora hat and corresponding head-to-toe pink outfit, Glenn Tkach is the sole creator and tour guide of Vancouver's Really Gay History Walking Tour.
Tkach has spent close to a year researching and studying the city's queer history. He's heard many first-hand accounts, uncovered many stories, and was one of the last few to see Ron Dutton's queer history archive while it was still preserved in his apartment before the collection was donated to the city for safekeeping.
But doing research into this history has only made Tkach hungry for more, he tells Vancouver Is Awesome.
That's why the all-pink tour guide is starting his own podcast (don't worry, he'll still wear the iconic pink hat).
The podcast, called Requeering History, is still in the works with a launch date sometime in the Fall. Tkach plans on learning and telling history from far and wide, "beyond the local history and beyond the 20th century."
Though episodes won't be released until later in the year, eager listeners can keep an eye on the podcast's website and Facebook page for news and updates.
