Vancouver's Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at Victory Square on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.

For more than a century, people have gathered in Vancouver to honour the service of members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, marks the 100th anniversary of the Victory Square cenotaph built on the edge of Gastown where the city's annual Remembrance Day gathering will take place

The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

The ceremony will last about an hour, with the opening remarks starting at 10:30 a.m. At 10:58 a.m. "The Last Post" will be played, followed by two minutes of silence and a 21-gun salute.

At 11:05 a.m. a flypast will take place (dependent on weather).

Around 11:20 a.m. a parade will depart from the site.

The entire ceremony will be broadcast by the City on YouTube.

Public attendance

The ceremony site includes several areas blocked off for veterans, invited guests, and participants close to the cenotaph.

The public area for the event will be on the southern section of Victory Square, nearest West Pender Street, and the surrounding areas.
