Another new tower in downtown Vancouver is getting close to reality.
Towering more than 500 feet above street level (once the mechanical room is included), the new structure will be built at 1157 Burrard St. if all goes as proposed. The building will be located at the intersection of Davie and Burrard where a community garden has sat for over a decade. If all goes according to the developer's plan, it'll be among the tallest buildings in Vancouver.
The 47-storey tower would be a mix-used site, with retail on the ground floor, office space above that (along with a new childcare centre) and residential strata from levels four to 47. There will also be an arts and cultural amenity of some sort as well.
The residential section will have 310 units, with 41 three-bedroom homes, and 96 two-bedroom homes (of the two-bedroom units, 78 are considered 'family' sized). The rest will be one-bedroom (43) and studio (130) units.
A rezoning permit for the tower was approved for the project in 2021. The development permit is with the city currently and taking public comments.
