New renderings of the planned Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre have been released.
They show a two-storey passive house structure. Among the features included are a seniors centre, a new child daycare facility and an outdoor swimming pool. There will also be a playground and splash pad. The centre will have underground parking as well.
The current centre has been around since 1949 and the parks board decided several years ago to build a new centre in Oak Park. If plans move forward as expected this new centre will open in 2025.
A schematic on the city's website shows what they've discussed with the Marpole Community Centre Association, with other renewals projects at Oak Park, including new basketball courts and moving the tennis courts.
The renderings were released as part of an application for a development permit; the city is accepting public comments on the permit until Sept. 12.
