People travelling through Vancouver's downtown core may want to plan ahead.
The Yaletown Business Improvement Association (YBIA) announced that a large-scale electrical project will occur each Monday over the next three weeks in a busy part of the neighbourhood.
BC Hydro will be removing wooden electrical poles along Hamilton, Mainland, and Homer streets.
"This is a big job, and it'll be loud and dangerous involving transport trucks, construction and electrical personnel, chainsaws, cranes," writes YBIA on Twitter.
Hamilton and Mainland streets will be fully closed to vehicular traffic during work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Homer Street will have a single-lane alternating traffic access while work is underway.
Drivers should prepare for the following street closures:
- Hamilton St from Nelson to Drake on March 6
- Mainland St from Nelson to Davie on March 13
- Homer St from north of Nelson to Drake on March 20
No parking will be available on the street being worked on.
Sidewalks will be closed during work hours, with the exception of pedestrian access to buildings (expect delays of around 10 minutes).
Streets will be re-opened to regular traffic at the end of each workday at 5 p.m.
