Not only was the Lower Mainland treated to mild weather on Wednesday evening, but a massive full super worm moon also illuminated the sky.
The stunning celestial event coincided with the spring equinox, and its name reflects the changing of the season. Specifically, the name refers to the time when birds begin to feast on earthworms that are pushing their way through the spring soil.
The clear night sky made ideal viewing conditions for stargazers to soak in the last supermoon of the season. As such, Metro Vancouverites shared numerous images of the dazzling lunar spectacle to their social media accounts.

Not only does the Worm Moon qualify as a ‘supermoon’ – meaning that the moon will look a whopping 15 per cent brighter and seven per cent bigger than a regular full moon due to its proximity to earth – but it is was the final of the three ‘supermoons’ this year.
