TransLink continues to investigate suspicious network activity that is impacting its information technology systems.
On Tuesday, the transportation agency disabled some of its online services "out of an abundance of caution." It added that customers may have been affected by the action.
Today, TransLink says customers will have to use cash at a Compass Vending Machine to load Stored Value or purchase a single fare. They will not be able to use a credit card or debit card at Compass Card vending machines or Tap to Pay fare gates.
Customers can still use cash at vending machines and staff will be on hand to assist customers having any difficulties purchasing fares. Stored value may also take longer than usual to load onto a Compass Card.
Various online services, such as the Trip Planner tool, have been disabled. Customers may choose to use Google Trip Planner.
TransLink just changed its mask policy for Metro Vancouver transit
TransLink says customers must now don face masks while boarding or waiting for transit at any indoor or sheltered stations and stops, as a result of the Provincial Government’s Ministerial Order mandating mask use.
Now, passengers must wear face masks in any sheltered location where people are boarding or waiting for transit, and Transit Police will conduct inquires with anyone not doing so.
Transit Police will enforce the Ministerial Order and can issue fines of $230, subject to the exemptions set out in the Order.
Customers who observe others not following the rules can report these instances to TransLink’s Customer Information team. This information will help Transit Police target enforcement in problem areas.
