Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a targeted shooting Saturday night.

About 10:30 p.m., police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Selkirk and 223rd Street.

The victim was in a white Hyundai when a second vehicle approached and shot multiple times. There was no exchange of gunshots between the two vehicles, police say.

The victim, a 30-year-old man who is known to police, sustained serious injuries but drove himself to hospital.

“We take public safety very seriously, and the public should be concerned when there is a shooting,” Const. Julie Klaussner said in a press release. “Police were on scene within minutes of the calls and were quickly able to determine this was an isolated, targeted incident and not a random shooting.”

Police have spoken with multiple witnesses. However, if you have information or video surveillance of the incident, contact Const. Josh Brushett at 604-463-6251 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
