Someone broke into a grocery store and stole a substantial amount of cash from an ATM, according to Surrey RCMP.
On Feb. 2, the detachment received a report that a grocery store located in the 15900-block of Fraser Highway was broken into while closed overnight between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., explains a news release.
After attending the scene, officers determined that the suspect had cut a hole through the store's ceiling and used a 40-foot extendable ladder to climb down. The suspect then stole a "substantial amount of cash" from an ATM machine.
Surrey RCMP Frontline is investigating the file with support from the Property Crime Target Team. Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.
Surveillance video from inside the store is being released to the public to further advance the investigation,
said. Surrey RCMP spokesoperson Cpl. Vanessa Munn Although the suspect’s face is not visible in the video, investigators feel that someone may recognize the person based on other characteristics.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing grey coveralls, with a black hoodie underneath pulled up over their head, a black backpack and black boots.
