Hummingbird Micro Homes is a Fernie-based tiny home company that makes a number of different models of houses built for people interested in living small.
Much like Delta's Mint Tiny Homes that I recently wrote about, Hummingbird focuses mostly on homes on wheels.
Something that sets Hummingbird apart is that they're not only building modern, tiny homes, but they're bringing people together and forming entire communities of them.
They were the driving force behind Bluegrass Meadows Micro Village, located 10 kilometres outside of Terrace B.C.
Founded in 2015 to help address a housing crunch, it's on a private 31-acre lot next to a river. It currently has 17 homes in it as well as serviced lots for plenty more.
Like a tiny town, or perhaps more of a co-op, Bluegrass Meadows has a common cabin, laundry, sewage services, a communal garden and more.
They're currently accepting applications for residency in homes that are a maximum of 480 square feet. Monthly rents start at $700.
