A tiny solarium in Vancouver's Coal Harbour neighbourhood has hit the rental market for $1,100 per month.
With unfurnished one-bedroom units still averaging more than $2,200 per month, the little room is substantially cheaper than most private units, especially any that may be available in the city's core.
But for that price not much is given. Photos on Craigslist of the room, which the ad calls a "solarium," show a narrow space just wide enough for a twin bed, which fills the majority of the space. It doesn't look like the door can fully open, and the bed appears to fill the space between the door and window.
The window is the highlight of the room; many similar rooms that have hit the market over the last year don't have any windows (though they tend to be a little cheaper). The view from the apartment seems to be the usual Coal Harbour vista: the windows of other condos and a sliver of Burrard Inlet and Stanley Park.
While there's not much space in the room, a closet in another part of the apartment (which is being shared by two other folks with their own bedrooms) has been set aside for the room's renter.
The rest of the apartment appears typical for the area. The current roommates are looking for someone quiet, tidy and "NOT into wild partying, and/or has odd schedules."
