More special edition Compass Cards are coming to the wallets of local transit users.
TransLink is releasing four Elf-themed designs that will be available on Wednesday, Dec 6 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (or until they sell out).
A total of 1,200 cards have been printed and will be on sale at a pop-up shop at Granville SkyTrain Station.
"'Son of a nutcracker!' TransLink customers can spread some holiday joy as they ride the transit system through the seven levels of the candy cane forest," states the transit agency in a press release.
The cards will be on sale for $34.99; the plastic Compass Cards each come with a collectible wooden postcard. People can buy up to four cards.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Will Ferrell holiday classic's release; much of it was actually filmed in Vancouver.
TransLink has dipped its toe into pop culture a few times before, with things like DC-themed Compass cards and a Marvel map of the city. They also released a pair of popular Compass cards in the form of little trains, and this summer sold trolley bus-shaped keychains that double as fare cards.
