A lone figure waving a giant “Trump 2020” on Sea Island on Sunday attracted the attention of passing motorists and, ultimately, the RCMP.
The man, who appeared to be driving an older style pickup truck, with a canoe strapped to the roof, was spotted near the intersection of Russ Baker Way and the Dinsmore Bridge.
A video and pictures of the man surfaced on social media solicited mostly derision, with some people suggesting the flag-waver took a wrong turn, believing he was in the U.S. - or even the wrong Richmond, as in Richmond, Virigina.
"To give him some credit, he brought a canoe in case hell freezes over, Trump does win, and Richmond melts into the primordial ooze," said Reddit user mongo5mash. "Hopeful, but if he's right he'll be laughing YUGE."
"I'm thinking that setting up a few yards from the heavily patrolled airport with what appear to be restricted weapons and armor is a great way to get a new entry in your file," remarked bob4apples on the Reddit thread.
At some point in the day, three RCMP vehicles arrived at the scene. It's not clear why or if any offences were being committed.
Speculation from passers-by and those viewing the image online believe the authorities may have been called because the man was possibly armed, and likely parked illegally.
