Two towers, new development proposed for Vancouver's Fairview neighbourhood

A new development will add some height to Fairview if the proposal is approved.

A new development will add some height to Fairview if the proposal is approved.

Located at the intersection of Pine Street and West 11th Avenue, an area dominated by three- and four-storey apartment buildings, the development would see two towers, one 20 storeys and the other 19, added to the area with 283 rental units.

Currently, the site, at 1726 West 11th Ave. is the home to Jordan Manor, a three-storey apartment building with 59 units.

In the proposal, the developers state the project, dubbed Broadway Towers, fits within the Broadway Plan. The massive rezoning and urban planning policy will guide property development along the Broadway corridor as the new subway is finished and becomes operational.

"Our proposal is for a 100% rental building that will bring much needed residential rental units to the neighborhood and the city," they state.

The building will be 20 per cent affordable housing, they state. It'll see 28 three-bedroom units, 71 two-bedroom units, 127 one-bedroom units, and 57 studio apartments.

The project would also see a commercial unit added at ground level, four storeys of parking underground and a courtyard on the third level between the two towers.

The application is currently with the City of Vancouver.

Correction — Initially, this story stated there were 24 apartments at Jordan Manor. BC Assessment shows there are 59.
