A rally in support of Ukraine is taking place in Vancouver this weekend.
Multiple rallies and protests have taken place in the city since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began earlier this year, including an anti-war rally.
A protest took place on Ukraine Independence Day (Aug. 24) as well, with a crowd gathering outside of Vancouver City Hall.
Several Ukrainians who have fled the country and arrived in Vancouver have shared their stories with Vancouver Is Awesome. One man who came to Canada with his wife described to comfort of seeing Ukraine flags away from home, and a mother described her family's life amidst the war before leaving the country.
An art exhibit illustrating Ukrainian perspectives on the Russian invasion had popped up in Vancouver too, with all proceeds donated to support Ukrainian children who lost their parents in the war.
The Ukrainian community and supporters will gather at the Vancouver Art Gallery at 3 p.m. on Oct. 16 "in Honour of Defenders of Ukraine," reads a tweet sharing the rally poster.
