Burnaby’s most valuable home is now even more valuable – two years after seeing that value actually drop significantly.
The house is owned by music superstar Michael Bublé, who turned two properties into one giant house that reportedly has its own underground hockey rink.
According to BC Assessment’s latest figures, Bublé’s home at 7868 Government Rd. has skyrocketed in value once again.
The home, which is listed by BC Assessment as having seven bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, has been assessed as of July 1, 2021 at $23,679,000 – which is a staggering $1.4 million more than the 22,279,000 value for 2021. The house was valued at $20,506,000 at the beginning of 2020. At the start of 2021, the house ranked #36 on the list of B.C.’s most valuable properties.
By comparison, 2021’s second-most valuable home in Burnaby, according to BC Assessment, is at 7629 Burris St. in Buckingham Heights and it is now worth $9,196,000 – up from a value of $8.2 million from the 2021 figure. More BC Assessment numbers will be coming out in the next week ranking local properties.
The home was built in 2015 and sits on a 100,000-square-foot lot, according to BC Assessment, with the land being worth more than $8.3 million and the buildings more than $15 million. The key jump in value was on the land, according to BC Assessment figures.
Bublé’s home actually dropped $1,160,000 in value at the start of 2020.
In 2016, Bublé told TV host Kelly Ripa he was building a hockey rink in the basement of his new home.
“Oh, you are so rich,” Ripa responded.
“I want my kids to be able to have fun and, for me, it’s great exercise,” Bublé told Ripa.
In the summer of 2020, Bublé was featured on an episode of Celebrity IOU, in which the Property Brothers – Drew and Jonathan Scott – renovated the singer’s old family home in Burnaby for the woman who took care of his grandfather, named on the show as Minette.
