A Vancouver man is celebrating after a trip to the grocery store went really, really well.
Peter Haggarty popped into a local grocery store for a few things while his wife stayed in the car with their dog.
While in the store, he decided to check a lottery ticket he had from the Nov. 9 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“When the cashier saw that I had won $500,000 they were so excited they high-fived me!” he says in a BC Lottery Corporation press release.
After celebrating with the River District Save-on-Foods cashier, he rushed outside to tell his wife.
“She was in disbelief!” he says.
Haggarty says he's surprised and grateful for the win. And now he's planning what to do with the money.
"I plan on going on a nice vacation!” he says.
