Vancouver's Black Library is catching the eyes of major celebrities.
The organization was first praised by Lizzo, who visited Vancouver last week to perform at Rogers Arena as part of her Special Tour.
The singer met with a local legend while in town and gave the new library a shoutout.
As part of an interview with Nardwuar, Lizzo recorded a clip of her saying "make sure you check out the Vancouver Black Library" which has since been posted to the organization's Instagram.
Several days later, Latto, who is touring with Lizzo, was also interviewed by Nardwuar. The rapper gave another shoutout to the library, saying "make sure you check out Vancouver's Black Library," in a clip posted to the library's Instagram.
The Vancouver Black Library opened in Chinatown in August and aims to provide a central space for the city's Black community to connect. The library is both a place to borrow books and a hub for programming such as group therapy, community care fundraising efforts, art exhibitions, poetry readings, book clubs, and zine-making.
