Have you stood with the crowd at Nat Bailey this summer for a chorus of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" yet? Time is running out. Here's what you need to do, according to Vancouver Canadians columnist Ryan Beil.

We have one marvellous home series left to enjoy this season down at Nat Bailey Stadium. On Sunday, Sept. 11, the 2022 Northwest League regular season comes to an end. After 132 games played, the time is almost here to take down your fridge magnet schedules.

Maybe we’ll get to enjoy some playoff baseball if things keep going well. But I don’t want to be labelled as the sports writer who jinxed the C’s, so I’ll just leave it at that. I have far too many other labels to endure, I don’t need “jinxer” added to the mix.

Consider this a call to arms. I know some of you just haven’t got your stuff together to get your baseball on this summer. And it shows. I can tell. You walk around forlorn and depressed, not realizing it’s the buzz of The Nat and the crack of the bat that’s been missing from your lives.

But you still have time, and it’s a glorious thing.

Here's just a short list of things you didn’t know you had on your summer bucket list.

1. Eat a mountain of junk food. Whether it’s a yard-long hot dog or three pounds of popcorn or a bag of peanuts with enough girth to entice a peanut-eating animal (can’t think of one off the top of my head) when you’re at the ballpark, you have a golden opportunity to indulge. I encourage this.

2. Yell at an umpire. I know, I know. It’s a difficult job that I could absolutely never perform, but, If you’ve read my “columns” this season, you know that I come down firmly on the side of occasionally giving the umps some grief. If you’re gonna heckle, why not direct your ire towards the umpire, truly our common enemies in weird blazers?

3. Hear The Addams Family theme song more than you ever thought possible. I don’t know why, but the powers that be that select the musical interludes at Nat Bailey Stadium seem to heavily prefer playing The Addams Family theme song. I know this is an odd point for this list, but I always meant to point out how odd it is to hear that tune over and over again at a sporting event. So I worked it in here. Anyways: tell me I’m wrong.

Tickets will be scarce, if not gone already, but do what you must to make sure you experience some baseball this summer. Every season is sacred. And this one's almost history. As always, see you at The Nat.
