Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) responded to a "stubborn" fire just after midnight on Nov. 19, 2022.

Vancouver firefighters responded to an overnight fire on Saturday (Nov. 19).

Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) Fire Chief, Karen Fry, shared on Twitter that crews "were on scene overnight at a stubborn fire in the 1400 block of E 1st Ave."

Assistant Chief Nock tells V.I.A. that the second alarm fire started just after midnight. "It was a two and a half storey home," he says.

Nock says that the building was vacant at the time of the fire except for a few "squatters" that were in the building. "We had a previous fire there," he adds.

Despite icy and cold conditions, VFRS crews were able to get the fire "under control and protect the neighbouring buildings," says Fry.
