Vancouver firefighters responded to a working fire in a downtown Vancouver high-rise building this afternoon.
Vancouver Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Kenny Gemmill tells Vancouver Is Awesome in a phone call that emergency crew received a call at 12:03 p.m. about a fire in the 1100 block of Burrard Street.
Gemmill says it was a minor fire in an apartment on the 11th floor of the building. The fire started on a stovetop while someone was cooking and the building was evacuated.
Firefighters used positive pressure fans to remove smoke from the unit. No one was injured.
