Vancouverites were privy to a misty city early this morning as a thick layer of fog shrouded the coastline.
In fact, Environment Canada issued a fog advisory for parts of Metro Vancouver as, "a strong inversion over the south coast has trapped an extensive area of fog over the Strait of Georgia."
As a result, the forecast predicts that southwest Vancouver, including Richmond and Delta, will have near zero visibility in fog. However, conditions are expected improve during the afternoon.
In addition, all Harbour Air Seaplanes destined to and from South Vancouver were delayed due to fog, as well as flights to and from Sechelt.
#HAflightstatus [7:33 am Jan 14] Flights to/from South Vancouver (YVR) are delayed due to fog. All other routes are operating as scheduled. Check flight status details online at https://t.co/7q3UB0AkzH or call 1.800.665.0212.

While communities on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands may see fog into Tuesday, out-flow winds from the Fraser Valley are expected to clear the southwestern sections of Metro Vancouver later tonight.

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
